Build-Your-Own Grid Workshop Fosters Collaboration

In the scientific research community, the notion of ?The Grid? invokes thoughts of networked computers sharing data and applications to efficiently accomplish a computing task.

During the first N.C. Statewide Grid workshop last summer at MCNC, a group of 20 people learned another meaning of The Grid a network of people from North Carolina universities armed with the technical know-how and passionate commitment to evangelize the need to build and participate in one of the nations first statewide computing grids to benefit North Carolinas research and education community.
